Trial Lessons in the Robinson R22 Helicopter



The smaller of the Robinson aircraft on the fleets, our R22's are two seat aircraft which is the most popular training helicopter in the world. Our Trial lesson in the the R22 start at 60 minute aircraft time, with and additional 30 minutes pre flight briefing that is necessary for the legal requirements as this is a training flight and can be included as flight time toward any future licence issue if the student wishes to pursue the flying.

The whole experience takes an hour or so, with the briefing ,the flight and time at the end of the sortie for cockpit photography. After which we present the the student pilot with a certificate to commemorate their first helicopter flying experience.

The student pilot briefing based on the EASA Helicopter Syllabus exercises 1-3 and 11a. They will have notes to take away and we can supply a log book at an extra cost to record their flight experience ready for any future lessons or licence issue!

Weight Restriction

The max Seat weight in the R22 is 15 stone.


Age Restriction.

The minimum trial lesson age is 14, the minimum solo flight is 16. All trial lesson pilot must have signed the temp membership form before flight, and if under 16 then a guardian must also sign.


Booking your Flight

To book or re-book a time and date to fly, please call the office on 01384 221050 or the mobile on 07957 557 612, or if you have a QR Code equipped telephone, scan the code on your voucher and book online! The voucher has a 3 month booking window from the date specified on the eVoucher, and this is to get the FLIGHT BOOKED. The flight window, ie the window of time in which you have to get the voucher used is SIX MONTHS FROM THE VOUCHER DATE. After this date any late bookings that are not due to weather cancellations will attract a £50 extension fee or the voucher is forfeit with no refund.

No guarantees can be made with availability and we suggest you book early to avoid disappointment.


On the day you’re booked to fly

You MUST call the flight line number on 07957 557 612 between 9.00 and 9.30 to confirm your flight will go ahead (weather is a huge factor in your enjoyment of the flight, and of course, flight safety). Please aim to arrive ten minutes before your slot time. Check our website for directions


Weather

Weather is huge factor in all types of aviation, and helicopters are no exception. The weather minima’s in which we can fly are strictly defined by the Civil Aviation Authority, and are in place for your safety. If weather does cancel your flight we will extend your flight window without charge to you and rearrange the experience at your convenience. Always call the flight line before you leave the house.


What to Wear


Please wear comfortable clothes and sensible shoes.


Airfield Visitor and Spectators

There are refreshments, toilets and the Spectator viewing area located in front of the control tower, and we will always recommend you bring as many family and friends as you like to share in your experience. After the cruise element of the flight, we conduct a hover challenge, and this is always in front of the viewing area, great location for photography and videography of you flight.


Payments and eVoucher Validity


eVoucher are only available on payment of the full fee and are valid for 6 months from the date of issue. After 6 months vouchers maybe re validated for a further 3 month on payment of an additional fee of £50. All flight payment must be received within 14 days before the flight, if not the flight is cancelled and any part payment already received will be forfeited by the customer, as these are non refundable.


Cancellation policy

A refund of the Full amount less a £25.00 administration charge will be given on all cancellation up to and including 30 days prior to the flight booking; between 30 days and 48 hours a refund of 50% will be given. Less than 24 hours no refund will be given. It is the students responsibility to attend all lesson promptly. If a student arrives more than one hour late for the lesson, then the instructor reserves the rights to cancel the lesson and charge the instructor time for the lesson. If a student cancels within 24 hours prior to the lesson, then the instructional fee shall still be charged. (N.B. This does not apply if the lesson is cancelled by the instructor for weather or flight safety concerns) Once airborne, if a request to cancel the flight is made, no refund or re-scheduled flight will be permitted.


Insurance


AA Helicopters Ltd has £3,000,000 legal liability insurance which any one accident, including third party and passengers. No Insurance is provided on the ground or in the AA Helicopters building. You undertake flight training at your own risk and in the knowledge that any accident in or around the airfield whilst attending a flight is not the responsibility of AA helicopters Ltd.


Safety

Safety is the Primary concern of everyone involved with AA Helicopters Ltd. We reserve the right to terminate individual flight and training courses at any time if in the opinion of the instructional staff safety is compromised. THE DECISION OF THE HEAD OF TRAINING IS FINAL AND BINDING.
